Twin SU carbs

SU carbs

The old Solex carb ws so bad that it would flood on downhills, uphills or even under heavy braking. To stop Dick drooling over the 90 (with twin SUs) we set about changing carbs. Unfortunately, P76 motors have different inlet manifolds to standard Rover V8s so finding the right bits was a bit difficult. Eventually we got as desparate as contacting tractor shops in Toorak (apparently they might be able to help) until we stumbled across stories of a guy in Waitara that built P76 race motors. Yeah Right. But then it turned out to be true! Ross Calgher knew exactly what was needed, and did a fantastic job of building a new manifold and planting two SUs on top of it.

After some drama with the starter motor, throttle cable, throttle linkage and everything else, the bodge was fired up - towed ignominiously behind the 90. It revved freely - and actually ran like a V8.
