Yep, we successfully traversed the famous Rubicon trail! What a blast! The above photo was taken at Observation point toward the end of the trail. You can see some of the trophies we picked up along the way. But hey, no mechanical problems, no straps, jacks or rock stacking! We love our ol' Land Cruiser a.k.a. "Knuckles". We started the trail on Thursday morning after having breakfast at Ice House Resort. It took all day to reach Buck Island Lake where we spent Thursday night. On Friday, we wheeled into Rubicon Springs and set up camp with about two hundred other Land Cruisers, Four Runners and mini trucks. We counted five other FJ60s and two FJ55s so the wagons were well represented this year. On Sunday morning we got up early and drove out to Lake Tahoe. We didn't have many people in front of us and we made it to the pavement before noon. Four hundred miles and eight hours later we watched the sun set into ocean at Pismo Beach. It was one hell of a trip! As my co-pilot and photographer Katherine will testify, the pictures don't do it justice, this trail is E X T R E M E ! ! ! Behind each of the pictures below is a gallery of more pictures.
