XJ Run, November 3-4, 2001
Badlands Off-Road Park, Attica, IN
During the 1st weekend of November 2001, we had an informal XJ Run develop at the Badlands Off-Road Park. Participants were Mitch, Matt, Neal, Dora, Tracy, and myself. The picture below shows the 5 XJ's which took part in the fun.
Here are some pics of me working my way up a rock ledge.
Neal is working on another section of the same rock ledge. Hard to believe, but we actually have some cool rocks to crawl on in West Central Indiana!
I attempted this steep climb up a rock face several times without success.
There is a rock obstacle which Tracy and Neal spotted me through. At the end, I managed to really get hung up on a chunck of concrete culvert. Everybody seemed to think this was really funny. You judge for yourself :-)
Neal tried a rock gardem which is one of the obstacles on the Pink Trail. He got hung up and could not make his was forward. What did he do? He backed his way out! Tracy spotted him and Neal made it out without a scratch.
This is Tracy working his way through a really difficult mud hole on Orange Trail. The mud hole was really dug out during the Ramsey 4x4 Olympics event when trail rides were held during heavy rain. Tracy gave it a good try but did not make it.
Here I am trying a different method than Tracy did. Not only did I not make it, I managed to fail in a very dramatic way. With the help of Tracy, I was able to back out of this situation. The only damage I sustained was a busted Yakima roof rack tower.
Neal is showing us the bypass around the mudhole, which was a fairly challenging obstacle itself.
