I had promised my friend Matt, who helped me a whole lot with my lift, that I would take him and his wife out to the Badlands. Well, this was the day that we went out. Matt and Chanin got to experience the Badlands for the first time. My friend Brian, who built my front bumper for me, came along and so did Adam. I met Adam at one of the Let's Go Jeepin'g classes. Brian has a red YJ and Adam has a metallic TJ.
Here I am in the parking lot after as I prepare to disconnect and air down.
Adam also spent some time airing down and disconnecting.
This part of the green trail was formerly known as "the rock and the tree." The tree on the left and the rock on the right made it a tight squeeze to get by. This part of the trail holds sentimental value because the tree did the first really major body damage to my XJ :-) Unfortunately, the dirt around the tree became dug out and the tree had to be removed before it fell down on someone's Jeep.
Brian cruises right past the rock and the tree with no worries. His tires stick out further than his fenders, so he has no chance of taking body damage on this obstacle.
Adam is seen cresting one of the many hills on green trail. This particular hill is a little tricky because you have to make a left hand turn as you come over the top of the hill.
At this point in the trail, the green and pink trails run together for a short distance. Someone from the Badlands had decided to play with a backhoe at this particular spot. I gave it a good try, but I had to be pulled backwards out of this hole after I was not able to make it through the obstacle.
Adam prepares to go into a mudhole of unknown depth. At this time, there were not too many mudholes on the green trail that would cause much problem.
Brian makes this mudhole look really easy. This same hole gave Adam and myself a little trouble, but Brian cruised right through it without spinning a tire.
After green trail, we played in the quarry for a little while. This hill is not really that hard when it is dry, but when it gets icy or muddy it can be a very difficult obstacle.
After the quarry, we tried a section of trail known as the white trail. It has some fun sections that really flex your suspension. There are also some good hill, off camber sections, and lots of mud.
