On the way to the MadXJ Mid Winter Run, my friend Matt and I were deciding where we should put a full size shovel. There wasn't much room in the XJ, but I did have a bicycle carrier on my Yakima roof rack. Two cable ties and a bungie were all that were necessary to convert the bike carrier into a shovel carrier. It works really well, and it is really, really nice to have a full size shovel on the trail when you are trying to dig yourself out of a bad stuck.
