Have you ever seen this on your hard door? It's
the result of rust. You'll have to patch or re-skin the door. New door skins are NOT
available! What do do? |
 |
Here's the door lock/latch. All those rods have
to be straight, not bent or weak. The slides have to be lubed. I spray the
latch with Carb spray and relube with heavy grease |
 |
Remove the Torex head bolts. this can be very
difficult. The head strips, the threads are often locked and you'll be luck to get
them all out. |
 |
To continue to remove the door skin, remove all the
OEM "spot welds" and peal back the door skin. This is labor intensive |
 |
I wasn't lucky. I drilled out the head and then
drilled a pilot hole in the bolt shank. Then I enlarged the hole and used an
"Easy Out" to remove the remaining shank material. |
 |
The easiest way to remove the outside skin is to zip
it off with an pneumatic cutter. It cuts through the door skin like butter. |
 |
As you can see the hinge "floats" if
it's loosened. The hinge tightens a plate up against the door frame. This
prevents the door from moving after tightened. |
 |
Here you can see the inner workings of the door,
there's the Crash bar. Look how Window frame is constructed! |
