Oil Pump Modification - Rod Linnett

This modification is extracted from Performance - American Style

Install 7qt deep or side sump oil pan with baffles to resist oil frothing. The stock oil pump can be used if modified as follows.

Oil Pump Assembly

1. Check the gear clearance as illustrated.
1. The stock specification is 0.002" - 0.006" (gears above housing).
2. Machine housing to obtain 0.006" - 0.007" clearance.
3. Also install oil pressure relief spring (#321 1034) color coded yellow that gives 55- 70psi

One know racing modification was to get extra oil supply to the rear main bearing, especially at high RPM.  Below is the modifcation required to feed that bearing.
