UPDATE: The truck and parts have been SOLD. However the new owner (Scott) is looking to sell some of the parts. You can contact him at skargo4@comcast.net. The parts are located in Northern MD. . . .

Please continue reading if you would like to know more about the truck.

My intent was to stay as stock as possible by using Toyota parts yet build a truck that was able to go anywhere and get out of anything (well almost ;-). This truck has been to GSMTR (Tellico), and during 1998 & 1999 was safety and rescue for events held at Paragon Adventure Park (Hazelton PA). Due to a changes in my personal life and work I no longer have time to work on my truck or (worse) wheel it, so I have decided to sell it. With that out of the way, here are the details. . . .

The production date of this truck is October, 1978. It has the original 2F engine (emission devices have been removed - but are included), the carb has been rebuilt, an HEI distributor modified for the 2F is included (brand new, just waiting to be installed), water pump was recently replaced, starter motor is from an FJ62 (gear drive ;-).

The 4-speed tranny and transfer are stock with exception of a 2-wheel low modification. A new clutch and pressure plate were installed in February of 2000 (only 200 miles since). Both front and rear differentials contain stock gears (4:11) with LockRight lockers. The rear axle uses GM rotors and disc's. The front had factory disc's making stopping quick thanks to 4-wheel disc brakes. The front axle and steering have been completely rebuilt, Old Man Emu steering stabilizer and power assist steering from an 85 Toyota pickup have been added. Brand new Toyota lockout hubs have been installed.

Springs have been replaced with ProComp 2.5" lift springs and poly bushings. Shackles and pins are new / greaseable, front's are TPI, rear's are ConFer. Shocks are Warn Black Diamond AT's. Wheels are 15 x 10 steel white spokes w/33x12.50 Mud Kings (including the spare).

A Ramsey Pro Plus 9000# winch sits on a custom front bumper along with a Hi-Lift jack. Under the hood is an AutoWeld "mobile welding system".

The interior retains the factory roll bar, bucket seats from a Nissan Pulsar (recline, lumbar & height adjustments), digital clock from a Toyota pick-up was added and the dash houses a Cobra CB radio. A console from an Isuzu Trooper has been installed for storage and arm rest. The rear fold down seats have been removed and large tool boxs have been mounted on the top of each wheel well for storage. (One holds the winch and recovery gear, the other welding equipment). A small Jeep style bench seat (included) can sit in the center of the cargo area or it can be removed for more storage space. Currenlty a 'large' Rubbermaid storage tote is installed.

The body (tub) is fiberglass with a steel dash and the fenders are also fiberglass. The doors, top and hood are original (1978 steel). The top is in great shape, front doors have some rust and the rear doors need a lot of help. Included is a brand new (never installed) Kayline black soft top (with 2-piece doors), matching bikini top and Gozzard fiberglass tailgate.

** My plans were to switch to the soft top w/tailgate and never use the hard top or steel doors again **

Spare parts include a 1978 frame, front and rear axles (these are complete - the front is disc), a 4-speed transmission, 3-speed transfer case, 1974 transfer case with the "switch over" gear (alows you to use lower geared 3-speed xfer case on a 4-speed tranny) and a complete 2F engine! There are enough parts here to build another FJ40 less the body. Oh yea, the frame comes with a Pennsylvania title and the original vin plates!

Lots of other spare parts are included such as original floor mat, wiring harness, several diffs (complete 3rd members), spare birfields, windshield w/glass, hood, front bib / grill with headlight assemblies, xtra set of 4 black steel spoke wheels (no tires) are included and many more spare parts.

Finally 4 - 20' sticks and 1 - 17' stick of 2" x .125" -DOM- tubing (NASCAR spec.) is included for building your own roll cage.

Some current pictures can be found here, a few action shots here and a very outdated expense history here. Updated photos will be appear on Scott's site soon (I hope) ....
