1. Carefully clean your
hood. I used windex glass cleaner.
2. Lay your decals out
flat on a table overnight.
3. Tape the decals back
together on the face material, this is necessary due to the shipping cuts.
4. Trim the facing/backing
material so that only 1/4" remains below the letters.
5. Use a couple of small
pieces of masking tape to generally position the decal/backing/facing on the
hood.
6. The bottom of the
letters should be 2.5" from the bottom edge of the hood.
7. The letters closest to
the windshield should be 1.75" from the back edge of the hood.
8. You will notice that
the decals do not want to match the radius of the hood.
9. Once you have the rear
spacing, you can easily align the front 5 letters with the bottom edge of the
hood.
10. Use a long strip of masking tape to attach the bottom
edge of the decal/facing/backing to the hood.
11. You will need to cut the decal/facing/backing between
the rest of the letters to match the hoods radius and maintain your 2.5"
alignment.
12. Cut between the
letters from the top down. You should stop your cuts about
1/4" before you go all the way through. This will keep the bottom
of the lettering straight and together.
13. At this point
your letters should still have a continuous 1/4"strip of backing/facing
material along the bottom edge and a strip of masking tape holding the bottom
edge to the hood.
14. You may find it easier to cut between each letter
at this point. That way you are applying them one at a time. I did
the first 5 letters together, and then the rest individually.
15. Fold the decal/backing/facing down so that you can
remove the backing from the bottom edge. The tape will hold the
facing to the hood while you do this.
16. You will have to tear through the remaining 1/4"
of backing between each letter.
17. With the backing removed, slowly roll the decal up onto
the hood surface. I like to run my finger back and forth across the the
facing as I am laying the decal down.
18. Use a credit card edge to apply pressure to the facing
moving from the inside out. This should help with removing any bubbles.
If you are patient and follow the directions, bubbles won't be an issue.
19. Do the same for each of the letters and then
remove the facing and masking tape.
20. If the facing won't release and is pulling the letters
up STOP. Use a sponge to moisten the facing with water. This will
help release the facing from the decals.
